Some of the important characteristics of material choices are: strength, durability, flexibility, weight, resistance to heat and corrosion, ability to cast, welded or hardened, machinability, electrical conductivity, etc.
Specifications
Documentation of materials that have been evaluated and selected. Where substitutions are allowed, requirements to be satisfied by a given material or products are documented.
Space Planning
Emphasis on planning, functional design and the effective use of space.
