We work with our clients to achieve their overall design goals in selections of materials and products. Factors taken into account include code compliance, building standards, sustainability guidelines, human needs, desired aesthetic, and budget parameters. The goal is to minimize cost while meeting the clients goals.
Some of the important characteristics of material choices are strength, durability, flexibility, weight, resistance to heat and corrosion, ability to cast, weld, or harden, machinability, and electrical conductivity.
Documentation of materials that have been evaluated and selected. Where substitutions are allowed, requirements to be satisfied by a given material or product are documented.
Emphasis on planning, functional design and the effective use of space.

An initial meeting helps determine the clients’ needs, goals and, objectives. After an agreed upon scope of work, and depending on the job requirements, an initial floor plan is created and images collected of proposed design intent. Interior elevations and image boards are created to help visualize the spaces and proposed materials and finishes. Room layouts, cabinetry, appliances, and plumbing are reviewed to ensure they are meeting your functional needs. Construction documents are then assembled for permitting and bidding. We are available for assistance during the construction process.
Our staff has experience with many types of commercial design including office tenant improvement, healthcare, senior living, retail, hospitality, and publicly bid projects including fire stations and water districts. We carefully ensure all codes are met and complete drawings and specifications are provided for permitting, bidding, and construction.
We keep up on industry trends by periodically going to the Kitchen and Bath Industry Trade Show, meeting with architectural reps to see the latest offerings of materials and finishes, reading design magazines and journals, and working with the Building North Central Washington Home Show.
Sustainability in design is defined as assimilating objects and materials characterized by principles of verifiable economics and ecological sustainability into the interior design process. It is the practice of creating environmentally responsible and aesthetically pleasing spaces. This approach considers the entire lifecycle of items to minimize negative environmental impact. Where possible, we strive to use renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable materials.
